Kits on shelves

Changes for Fall 2024

  • Juvenile collection

    • Hundreds of new titles were added in both fiction and non-fiction
    • The book collection was moved from the fourth floor to the third floor
    • Shelf signage was added to aid in locating materials
    • Displays are set up within the shelves to highlight titles for fun fall holidays such as Yoga Awareness Month, American Education Week, International Tongue Twister Day, Sesame Street Day, National Coding Week, First Day of Autumn
  • Curriculum Kits
    • New kits have been added in science, robotics, social sciences, Spanish, ELA, reading, economics, community, nutrition, social emotional learning, and mathematics
    • Some kits are student centered and others are for teacher use. Ex. Magnetic versions of Cuisenaire rods, base ten blocks, fractions, and other math instruction items to use on the board plus manipulatives for student use
    • Library patrons may check out any of the kits
    • Shelf signage was added to aid in locating materials
  • Makerspace
    • It took nine years, but we finally have a makerspace in room 306 (former copy room/study space next to my office)
    • Usable STEM and arts and craft materials were salvaged from old curriculum kits that were being discarded to stock the space to get it started
    • Art materials and office supplies are available to use - markers, crayons, scissors, glue, etc.
    • Any donated materials are welcome!
  • Die cuts
    • There is a large collection of die cuts in various sizes, shapes, letters, and numbers
    • Sometimes paper is available, but users are encouraged to bring their own
