Do you have a project that we can help with?

We love collaborating and getting creative. Most of all, we love to learn new things. Are you working on something that we can help with? Maybe it involves 3D printing. Or maybe it's purely a digital project, a website, a flyer or a video. All of that sounds great to us. Contact us at  Digital.LearningStudio@millersville.edu and let us know what you are working on.

Take a look below at some of the projects we've been involved with.

3D Printed Dress

The staff at the Digital Learning Studio helped Art major, Maggie Smith, with the creation of a 3D-printed Dress. Maggie used flexible filament to print hundreds of pattern pieces and then sewed them together. There was a lot of experimenting and adjusting to get the settings right so that the special filament would print well. The dress turned out amazing! Simply gorgeous.

Coronet leadpipe

Robert's antique coronet, made by the JW Pepper Company in Philadelphia sometime between 1910-1916, was missing the leadpipe. We worked with Robert to design and 3D print a new one with PLA filament. And it sounds great!

Feddy's wheelchair

University employee, April contacted the DLS asking if we could help her design and build a wheelchair for her pug, Feddy, who lost the use of his hind legs. Students at the Digital Learning Studio, including Kat and Alicen pictured below, led a project to research, plan, select, customize and create a wheelchair for "a very good boy". Video below is Feddy's first time walking in 9 months.

Counting candles

We worked with Early Education major, Lauren, to replace missing 'counting candles' that her pre-schoolers loved. They use to candles to practice counting as they put them in and out of "birthday cakes".  Lauren's mentor teacher said the students loved the activity but many had gone missing over the years.  DLS employee, Chase, designed and printed new candles for Lauren who says, "They turned out great!"

Spoken Word video

Student Rashna was a heavy user of the Macs in the Digital Learning Studio. Her video editing expertise quickly surpassed our own and so we hired her. Rashna created this video for a panel presentation, "“Creators Share their Stories: Inclusive Making in the Library”" at the Association of College and Research Libraries in Cleveland in 2019.
